If a guy doesn't contact you, is it right that he doesn't like you?

The guy I am dating never contacts me unless I contact him and then he said to me that he would be out of touch for an indefinite period and would contact me again one day because right now he was really busy with work and in a bad space. Do you think this is a lie or true?
