Is it possible to treat wood after mold begins to grow?

Dampen the affected are with plain water to prevent the mold from becoming airborne when disturbed. Then clean off the mold with mild alkali such as washing soda. Wipe clean or rinse the wood thoroughly. Lastly spray a layer of undiluted white vinegar to disinfect and prevent future mold growth. Allow it to dry completely.
