Monitor Connection Clarification Pls?

I believe your idea is correct: connect blue plugs to the monitor and adapter, and connect the adapter to the PC. It's very unlikely that you'll do it wrong--the plugs wouldn't fit--and even more unlikely that you'd do any damage.
