What was the importance of notre dame?

don't see the connection between your question about notre dame and your questions about music. notre dame, the cathedral, important because, 1) major work of architecture filled with major works of art 2) a church, so religious uses and meaning 3) the place where the French crowned their kings/emperors, including Napoleon Bonaparte, so very important historically and 4) literature, of course we all know the Hunchback of Notre Dame, pretty famous story that makes the building even more famous too.
